Installation of a residential “Hainy Hydrant” and associated equipment allows First Responders easy access to a water source and hose lines that they otherwise may not have. During previous fire events, it was clear that residents did not have adequate exterior water sources and equipment available to supplement fire protection efforts.
Prior to residential evacuation, the homeowner places their equipment next to their Hydrant. First Responders have this added water source and equipment to assist in fire protection in lieu of Public Hydrants and garden hoses which may not be easily accessible.
Brushfire has a Hainy Hydrant kit for homeowners. It includes:
1 – Stainless steel ball valve
1 – 4″ Stainless steel nipple
1 – Stainless steel 90-degree elbow
1 – Stainless steel short nipple
1 – Brass fire hose thread converter (NPT to NH)
1 – Brass cap
1 – 1 1/2″ Forestry wye valve
2 – 1 1/2″ Single jacket fire hose – 50-foot
1 – 1 1/2″ Single jacket fire hose – 100-foot
1 – roll of thread sealing teflon tape.
1 – Fire hose specialty wrench
